of Middle Schools, California Department of Education, California Middle Grades Alliance, National Forum, and the California Schools to Watch model schools.

Replicable Practices
Interventions include math, English, social-emotional classes during the school day, and the Cub Academy, offered four days per week, which provides intervention/enrichment classes schoolwide.
Highly successful push-in/co-teach collaborative teaching model is in place for special education students and all students in need of additional assistance in the core classrooms.
School-wide PBIS program includes Tier I, II, and III interventions and provides for regular rewards and recognition.
Spanish dual immersion program has been implemented to allow students to continue this program through high school.
All core classes embed SDAIE methods, utilize Kagan strategies, and have common curriculum maps and/or pacing guides with common assessments.
All English Learners have an adult advocate who monitors progress and meets with students to support their needs.
Clifton participates in the Focused Schools Program to ensure that focus strategies are implemented and student goals are met.
School focus areas include utilizing CUB Writing (creating a claim, using evidence, and backing it up) and three-level questioning to increase rigor across subject areas.
“Jump Start” conferences are offered before school to help support potentially at-risk students.
Successful Parent University nights are held five times per year to address topics of interest to the parent community and to assist them in supporting their students.
