Replicable Practices
South Senate – Student Voice Driving Change: Student-elected representatives from every advisory class identify issues, deliberate solutions, and influence site team decisions, embedding authentic student voice in governance.
Game-Based Learning with Minecraft Education – First-in-the-State CTE Elective: A pioneering elective where students design civic and sustainability-focused projects in Minecraft, integrated with Woodshop, Robotics, Digital Animation, and Business Tech to create playable arcade cabinets and marketed games.
Ocean Academy & Green Team – Sustainability and Community Partnership: Innovative environmental programming with Shark Stewards and local partners, engaging students in marine biology, conservation projects, beach cleanups, and campus-wide sustainability initiatives that earned South the Green Ribbon award.
Capstone and South Talks – Authentic Assessment & Civic Agency: Every 8th grader presents a curated ePortfolio at Capstone, reflecting on growth in the 5Cs, while South Talks empower students to research and deliver civic calls to action on community issues through soapbox speeches.
Intramurals and Esports – Equitable Access to Athletics and Digital Competition: Free, inclusive programs where all students—regardless of ability—participate in sports and esports competitions, supported by certificated coaches, transportation, and scholar-athlete recognition.
