Replicable Practices
Equitable Grading and Instruction: All GALA teachers practice a mastery grading system, grounded in growth mindset, which provides multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery in learning targets, shifting the focus from grades to learning while fostering perseverance and equity.
Social Emotional Wellness Through Advisory & Restorative Practices: By keeping students in the same advisory cohort throughout middle school and prioritizing restorative practices over punitive discipline, GALA fosters strong relationships, emotional safety, and a supportive school climate.
All-Girls Model: By creating a single-gender learning environment, GALA provides an environment that empowers girls through equitable access to leadership, rigorous academics, and STEM pathways, resulting in increased confidence and achievement.
STEM: Students complete seven years of math, seven years of science, and two years of computer science, with additional STEM electives, ensuring deep, rigorous learning and a pipeline for STEM career readiness.
College Prep: As a highly rigorous college preparatory school, all middle school students complete pre-AP coursework in core subjects, advanced mathematics and access to Community College classes.
