Monica Jauregui is an exceptional educator whose influence at Harry S. Truman Middle School extends far beyond her classroom. She serves as the English Language Learner site monitor, ELD teacher, and AVID Excel teacher, and her impact on student achievement is remarkable. For the past two years, Truman has reclassified more English Learners than any other school in the district, including 96 students in 2024-2025 alone. In her AVID Excel classes, more than 76% of students demonstrated growth on the ELPAC assessment—clear evidence of her focused instruction and high expectations.

Monica’s students benefit from a powerful combination of targeted language support and college-readiness skills. She blends rigorous academics with meaningful encouragement, ensuring students feel both challenged and connected. Her data-driven planning and commitment to continuous improvement strengthen not only her classroom, but the entire school.

A valued leader, Monica guides colleagues in data analysis and backward planning, sharing strategies that elevate instructional practice across campus. She also fosters belonging through her afterschool art club and contributes to a positive staff culture through schoolwide initiatives and leadership teams.
